Windsor Emancipation Celebration is a multi-cultural festival that invites people of all ethnicities to join us July 30th to August 2nd as we celebrate Emancipation Day. Enjoy live music, delectable cuisine, and the vibrant costumes and colors of masqueraders. So come and enjoy all of the heritage, beauty and culture Windsor has to offer especially during this annual festive comemmoration of The Emancipation Act of 1833, that made Canada the final stop on the Underground Railroad to freedom.

2010 Press Release

Emancipation is gearing up for it most spectacular shows since its come back at Festival Plaza. Windsor's 177 Anniversary of Emancipation Day takes place on July 30 to August 2, 2010 at Festival Plaza in Windsor.

Our theme for this year is
"COME TOGETHER! WE ARE THE WORLD".

Once again Windsor will come alive with colourful display of costumes, magnificently designed floats and costumes, masqueraders dancing to pulsating rhythms and marching bands presenting a spectacle that has only been seen on the streets of Windsor when Emancipation was at its peak.
